WHO: Adult Camp Fire
USA members, alumni and friends.
WHAT: Come escape the
rat race and join us at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island for this year’s
Adult Weekend. We’ll explore some old ideas along with the
contemporary. Learn a skill or perfect one, relax with old friends
and new, while exploring the island oasis known as Camp Sealth.
We’ll play Bunco, enjoy the bidding wars of the silent auction
and have a great time.
WHEN: February 27-28,
March 1, 2009 – First workshop is Saturday at
10 a.m. – home Sunday after brunch.
WHERE: Camp Sealth
on Vashon Island
Once again, the silent auction will benefit Special
Family Weekend; a weekend at Camp Sealth for families who have a
child with special needs. Last year, we raised $1447! If you would
like to donate an item or service for the auction, please contact
Pat Kishline at p.kishline@comcast.net
Some classes will require you to bring additional items or money.
Please review class descriptions and
your confirmation letter closely for additional needs.

Classes are assigned in the order registrations
are received. There are no guarantees on specific class availability.
To receive a discount, registration must be postmarked no
later than February 2, 2009. The FINAL postmark deadline
is February 9. Sorry, no refunds for cancellations. Please print

Folded Fabric Star – Learn the art of Origami with fabric. Make a beautiful fabric star project. |

Fun Cards – Learn to make a variety of pop-up and pop-out cards.

Gardening, Composting and WORMS – Learn gardening & composting techniques from Sealth’s Environmental Education instructor while exploring Sealth’s organic garden.

Geocaching – Go on a treasure hunt played with a GPS device. (Devices will be available to borrow.)

|
|
Henna Tattooing/Body Art – Explore the ancient art of henna tattooing from a mehendi artist. |
|
|
Hummus with Salad and Pita – Make and sample hummus and a chopped Middle Eastern salad, and learn about Middle Eastern Culture.
|
|
Hypertufa Planter – Create a planter that mimics an ancient stone trough and get ideas for planting.
|
|
Mosaic Trivet – (2 workshops) Create a trivet using glass with the techniques of cutting mosaic glass pieces, and grouting.
|
|
|
Nature Hike – Explore Sealth’s wilderness with an Environmental Education instructor. Moderate hiking. |

|
Painted Garden Turtle – Paint a garden turtle ornament from assembled clay pots.

Paper Bag Mini Travel Scrapbook – Make a purse-size scrapbook of your latest travel. Choose from Woods, Beach/Sea, City/Road Trip.

Photographic Techniques – Learn simple techniques to transform ordinary photos into keepsakes.

| Pine Needle Basketry – Make a mini basket from pine needles. |
|
|
Pottery Glazing – Glaze a bisque mug, decorate it, fire it in camp’s kiln and take it home with you.

Sailing 090 – (3 workshops - all day Saturday)
Learn the principles of sailing, then put your skills into practice.

Service Project to benefit Camp Sealth. Actual project TBD.

Straw Weaving – Make 2-3 simple designs or ornaments as you learn basic straw weaving techniques.

Survival Skills – Learn important & creative ideas for short-term survival and using the 10+ essentials.
Training
– 1-on-1 Camp Fire program training with staff.
